Arsenal enter race to sign Como star Jacobo Ramon

Arsenal have entered the race to sign highly rated Spanish centre-back Jacobo Ramon from Como next summer, according to TEAMtalk.

Ramon, valued at £21m by Transfermarkt, came into the limelight with Real Madrid last season after his performances with the academy earned him a spot among the first-team regulars under Carlo Ancelotti.

Under the current Brazilian boss, he made six senior appearances and notably scored a late stoppage-time winner against Mallorca in May 2025 – displays that persuaded Como to secure his signature in the summer.

While much of the praise surrounding the Italian side has focused on the attacking fluency introduced by Cesc Fabregas since promotion, their push towards Europe this season has largely been built on defensive strength.

Across 27 Serie A fixtures, no team have conceded fewer goals than the I Lariani’s 26, while no other goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets than Como’s Jean Butez’s 15.

At the heart of that defensive resilience is Ramón, whose authoritative performances and organisation of the backline—alongside Diego Carlos—have placed him firmly on the radar of several clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, several clubs have intensified their interest in signing Ramon from Como in the summer.

After initially withholding interest, the report adds that Arsenal have now entered the race to sign the 6ft 5in centre-back to reinforce their backline.

A major obstacle in the deal was Real Madrid’s buy-back clause in his contract, which is similar to the agreement made with Nico Paz, according to the report.

However, in a boost to the Gunners, the LaLiga giants are not considering signing him until 2027, with the centre-back now open to taking the next step in the summer.

TEAMtalk adds that Arsenal have been informed of the situation, although they’ll have to battle with several clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brighton Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

After losing three consecutive domestic games, Arsenal now face a tense run-in, with the recent defeat to Bournemouth cutting their lead to just six points over second-placed Manchester City, who still have a game in hand.

Crucially, the two sides are set to meet on Sunday in a decisive Premier League clash — one that could play a major role in determining the eventual title winner.
