Trump again spoke about the Rwanda-DRC conflict, saying he is pleased with the progress being made.

A team of experts from Rwanda and the DRC spent three days in talks in Washington DC, USA, which concluded on June 18, where both sides agreed on the main points of the peace agreement, while US President Donald Trump said he was pleased with the progress made by both sides in the process of signing the peace agreement.

President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters, said it was valuable for him to be able to play a role in getting the DRC and Rwanda to sign the peace agreement, and that his country was proud of the progress that had been made in this peace process.

He said: “We will sign and stop the war. It is important for me to be a part of it. I thank Vice President JD Vance and our Secretary of State for the good work he has done. So Rwanda, which has been at war with Congo for a long time, a very bad war, is going to make peace with Congo, start doing business with America and other countries and have a normal life. We are proud of this step.”

On June 27, 2025, the foreign ministers of the two countries will meet in Washington DC, United States, to sign and ratify the peace agreement. After signing the agreement on an undisclosed date, the heads of state of the two countries will meet to discuss peace and economic issues in the Great Lakes region.

This is not the first time that Trump has been trying to reconcile countries in conflict, as he says he has done so between India and Pakistan and that in a few days his country will begin to sign trade agreements with India and Pakistan, saying: “It’s a good thing.” Trump further said that this step was also taken between Kosovo and Serbia, countries that have been at war for a long time.
