Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe met with the Emir of Qatar in Doha to discuss Rwanda-DRC relations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, held talks with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Jassim al-Thani, on cooperation between the two countries, and also returned to the security issue that has been deteriorating for some time between Rwanda and the DRC.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar on June 1, 2025, released a statement indicating that the two sides discussed various issues and ways to increase cooperation. They also discussed actions aimed at resolving the issue of bad relations between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda.

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, on March 18, 2025, brought together President Kagame and Flex Antoine Tshisekedi of the DRC, who agreed to lay a foundation for building on in the search for lasting peace in line with the Luanda and Nairobi talks, They were joined.

This was followed by talks in Doha, which brought together the DRC government and the AFC/M23 to find a way to end the war in eastern DRC and achieve a lasting peace.

These talks in Doha paved the way for the Washington talks announced on 25 April 2025, which saw the signing of an agreement setting out basic principles in governance, security and economic matters.
