On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, the Burundian National Electoral Commission (CENI) announced the results of the parliamentary and municipal elections.
The elections were held last week, in which the ruling CNDD-FDD party of Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye won all the seats in parliament. The CNDD-FDD party was also declared to have won the parliamentary elections with a 100 percent majority. The CENI confirmed that the elections were successful, but said that there were minor irregularities.
Although the CENI declared the elections to be successful, some who closely followed the elections say that there was a lot of fraud, as they give examples of cases where voters were accompanied to the polling station and were accompanied by members of the ruling party in Burundi. It is even said that they showed them who to vote for. The Burundi Electoral Commission announced the results of the elections yesterday, Wednesday, stating that the ruling party CNDD-FDD won the elections by a large margin.
Here is how the elections went in the 5 provinces that make up Burundi.
In Buranga Province, the CNDD-FDD party won 17 out of 27 votes, while in Butanyerera it won 23 out of 23 votes, in Bujumbura it won 23 out of 23 votes, and in Gitega it won 21 out of 21.
As provided for by Burundian law, three more members of the Batwa ethnic group will be elected.
